Abstract
In a previous study (Benton 2023) it was noted that conjunctions or oppositions between Jupiter and Uranus or Neptune occur significantly more often in male-to-female transsexuals than in those who are not classified as male-to-female transsexuals. The respective percentages were 40% and 22%. Furthermore, the effect size as measured by the absolute value of Cohen’s h was observed to be between small and medium; significance in that study was determined by means of a 1-tailed z-test for two proportions with the alternative hypothesis being that male-to-female transsexuals would consistently exhibit a higher percentage when compared to those not classified as male-to-female transsexuals.
In this study, the original astrological signature has been expanded to include several more planetary aspects, and the result is an astrological condition that is now seen in approximately 88% of male-to-female transsexuals as opposed to only 61% of those not classified as male-to-female transsexuals. We also subdivided our dataset into two non-overlapping time periods, with each containing approximately half of our sample of male-to-female transsexuals, to show that the results replicate over time.
Significance was determined using a variety of appropriate tests (G test, chi-square test, Fisher’s exact test, and a 1-tailed z-test for two proportions), and all tests returned values for p that are far less than 0.001. Additionally, Cohen’s h showed in each instance an effect size approximately halfway between medium and large, and all the results (proportions, effects sizes, and p-values) were remarkably consistent over the time intervals examined.
The conclusion is that this new, expanded astrological signature characterizes quite well, from a statistical point of view, the majority of male-to-female transsexuals.
