Response to Wout Helkelom
From Mike Harding, ADEP, D.F.Astrol.S.
I’m not sure that Wout Heukelom has quite got the point. Astrology might have its roots in early occult practices, but so does much of science. In both cases the original disciplines were invented and continue to be so. Claims that “scientific laws and theories are determined… by asking questions of nature and acting on the answers” overlooks the obvious -that all disciplines base their questions on their assumptions and only recognise answers that accord with those assumptions. I.e, mathematics is used to confirm that mathematics is accurate. As Wittgenstein observed, this is akin to buying a second copy of the same newspaper to check the accuracy of the first. I could go on here, but won’t.
